สงกรานต์ มีในหลายประเทศ/ดินแดน (ไทย กัมพูชา ลาว เมียนมา สิบสองปันนา เป็นต้น) เนื่องจากเป็น "วัฒนธรรมร่วม" ในภูมิภาคนี้ เพียงแต่เรียกแตกต่างกันไปในแต่ละภาษา และรายละเอียดปลีกย่อยแตกต่างกันไป ซึ่งก็ควรจะต้องเป็นชื่อหรือคำของทางกัมพูชาเอง (หากใช้คำว่าสงกรานต์ ก็ย่อมจะซ้ำกับของไทยซึ่งขึ้นทะเบียนนี้ไปแล้ว)
